Too sexy for my clothes.

I am applying mascara when my Beloved struts up behind me, preening in the mirror. He is about to leave for work. "This looks pretty good on me, don't ya think?" he asks. It was B's birthday a few days ago, and he is wearing new clothes he got from me and from his mom.

"It looks great."

"You don't think the shirt is too light to go with these pants?"

"No they go together well."

"Is the shirt O.K., it's a bit wrinkled?"

"Only a little on one arm, no one will notice," I assure him.

"The shirt is cool, I like this colour."

"Yes, it's a good colour on you Sweetie."

"I do look great, don't I?" B is clearly pleased with his dapper image.

"Yes dear. One thing though, you may want to do up your fly."

What would men do without us?

Today's dream travel destination: Wreck Beach, Vancouver, where clothes, and undone flies don't matter.

I think this post is quite sweet. All the men in my life would be quite happy to wear sacking.
I had to laugh at the denouement.

Wreck Beach nominated, I can't believe it. I've never been and I've lived just down the road for 40 years. As a beach it leaves a lot to be desired.

jmb, Yes, apparently it's nominated for one of the seven wonders of Canada. In the CBC radio "contest".
I have been to wreck beach, I used to hang out there with my sister when we were younger. Much younger! Where else can you sunbathe topless and buy home made banana bread and a beer from a naked vendor?

I now have that Right Said Fred song stuck in my head.

Thanks.

I'm too sexy for my shirt, so sexy it hurts...

I could've done without the beach photo. Some other blogger had a picture of nudists at a senior citizens complex. Simply awful.

My own sartorial choices leave a lot to be desired, according to the Frog Queen.

I know if I look like Coco the Clown or am wearing odd socks when Her Royal Frogness regally asks: "Are you intending to go out dressed like that?"

Jazz said...

Wow. Mr. Jazz never looks dapper. He's a jeans and t-shirt (or aloha shirt) kind of guy. All the time. Doesn't own a suit. Owns a tie which in the past 20 years he must've worn once...

Men? Strutting peacocks? Naaah!
OK, so now you know the truth about vanity and I am much more obsessed about my appearance than is my wife about hers. Not that she doesn't look great, but I run past her for scrutiny more often than she does me.
Ah, Wreck Beach. Didn't really come into being until I'd left Vancouver. However, I used to regularly go to a nude beach during the year I lived in England. Not because I'm an obsessive voyeur (just a regular voyeur), but because it was a good beach. However, never ever did anybody whom I might have fancied seeing starkers disrobe. On the other hand, people I would prefer to see fully robed doffed trou and panties with impunity.
Nice post, my friend.

Men (some men anyway) are so cute sometimes when it comes to clothes. Fashion def. doesn't come natural to (my) B, and even though my own fashion sense is severely lacking, I always help him shop for clothes. He becomes completely quiet and obedient. It's a really strange dynamic!

There are several "clothing optional" beaches in the Portland area, but I've never been able to sufficiently suppress my inner prude enough to go hang out on any of them.

Why is it called Wreck Beach? Was there a shipwreck there once or is it cuz everyone sunbathing there is a wreck? Heh!

Is he a Leo?

CDW, I love that song, but it's stuck in my head too.

JR, C'mon, the naked body is beautiful in all its forms, right?

DD, Are you going out dressed like that?

Jazz, B has one suit, and one tie. It only comes out at weddings and funerals. I am soooo tired of it.

Ian, Wreck beach is a very relaxed place to hang out. Music, happy folks, great food, but you're right about the people starkers. No gorgeous types at Wreck, the beautiful all go to Kit's beach to play volleyball.

Rozanne, I don't know why it's called Wreck beach, but there are lots of wrecked old naked hippies there.

Alda, No, he is not a Leo, but he has the heart of one!

HAHAHHAHA. I love the punch line about the fly.

Being open, that is.

I mean, it's not like you took out a fly swatter and killed one.

I *did* read this post, so I know that.

Anyhow, I'm sure he looked grand.

We used to call Charles "The Fashion God" before he became all professional and stuff due to his horrible clothing choices. Now that he has to wear a tie to work every day, he pays slightly more attention to his 'off duty' wear. It's rather nice.

Voyager said...

Jocelyn, We just came back from a weekend attending a wedding on the Sunshine Coast, and I realized B's only suit really needs to be replaced. More preening and strutting will have to be done at the men's store.

Diana, I love B dearly, but there is a reason his mother and I buy his clothes. Left up to him they would all be the same: a green golf shirt and khaki pants.

I'm kind of low maintenance myself, so it always throws me when I encounter men who are more concerned with their appearance than I am with mine.

Voyager said...

CS, I think many men really care about their apearance. It's just that their idea of what looks great often seems to come from another planet.

Have you ever thought about adding a little bit more than just your articles?
I mean, what you say is important and everything.
However imagine if you added some great photos or videos
to give your posts more, "pop"! Your content is excellent but with images and videos, this site
could certainly be one of the greatest in its niche.

Hi would you mind sharing which blog platform you're using? I'm
going to start my own blog in the near future but I'm having a tough time choosing between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your design and style seems different then most blogs and I'm looking for something unique.
P.S My apologies for being off-topic but
I had to ask!
