Back from...

I have not just been away from the Internet, I've been away from home. Although, one is never very far away from the Internet, at least not in most of the places I've visited. I've logged into cyberspace from Kathmandu, the Serengeti, Koh Pan Gan Thailand, Guatemala, and tiny villages in Canada's north... Oh. Does that sound like I'm showing off? Putting on airs? Of course it does, because I was. But I'll stop. For now.

Anyway, I had a lovely time away. There was leisure time to take long walks, read, drink a cold brew in the sunshine, spend time with family, and feel the warm white sand on my feet as turquoise waves lapped at my toes.

You may be thinking, "she must have gone to the Caribbean, or Mexico, or maybe Hawaii. Or even the South Pacific." It takes as long to fly to those places as it did to the place I really went,  but it wasn't one of them. I'll give you a hint:

We did not eat this monster, but we sure enjoyed several of his great-grandchildren.

Have you guessed where I was? First person to get the country and region gets a big round of applause. The first person to name the actual beach in these photos gets first prize: an all expense paid trip to anywhere in the world you can toss a ball to from your own home. Really. I am that generous.

I have a feeling my guess would be wrong so I'm going to have to wait for someone else to guess or for you to tell us. Wherever you went it looks beautiful. I hope you have a wonderful time and I'm guessing you did.

I've never thought about how many places I've gotten onto the internet in, but it's a pretty long list now that I think about it.

Glad you had a good vacation closer to home.

Nouvelle Ecosse? I know you and I know it's the Maritimes. As for naming the beach, cannot do that. But, itra does look heavenly and disconcertingly tropical. Loved your comment on mine about ignorant Canadians, untraveled in the US passing unfair judgment.

I'd have to also go with Nova Scotia as for the beach maybe somewhere near Crescent Beach?

I've been to Nova Scotia and I don't remember the water being quite that calm. Maybe Cape Breton, an inland beach? Anyway, it's pretty gorgeous...ciao

Carver, I did have a lovely time, thank you.

S.A.W., When you think about it, internet access anywhere is amazing. 25 years ago I couldn't have imagined sending an instant e-mail to my parents from Kathmandu.

mrwriteon, you are the first person to say "Nova Scotia" so you win a big round of applause. You had some insider knowledge though.

Big Brother, you get to share the applause.

Rossita, it is not Cape Breton, it is on the south shore, though there are some beautiful white sand beaches in cape Breton too.

With that monster, it had to be the maritimes.

Oh gosh - have no idea where you went, but it looks just great! Maybe Brazil?

Jazz, Yes, it was Nova Scotia. And as they would say there, that lobster was "some big".

Lady Fi, Brazil!? Are you reading my travel dreams? I would love to visit Brazil, and will some day I hope. But no, this trip was to the east coast of Canada, in the province of Nova Scotia. We don't have lobster in the ocean here on the west coast where I live. Sadly.

I've never been to Nova Scotia but I've heard it is beautiful. Your shots surely show that.

My goodness, where ever it was, it sure looks idyllic - sighhhhhh..

Beautiful photos. I love NS - it's been far too many years since I've visited.. and had their wonderful lobster.. yum!

Going for the big money here: how about Martinique Beach? Hubbards Beach? Lawrencetown Beach?

No matter where: you were just the right person to enjoy its lovelitude.

Carver, Nova Scotia is beautiful, but its weather is not. Long nasty winters, and too short cool summers.

Shrinky, to me, almost anywhere near the ocean is idyllic. I never met a shoreline I didn't like. But powdery white sand: special.

Hilary, the price of lobster has gone way down in Nova Scotia, because it is so plentiful. The fisherman we spoke to (the one who let me hold big Larry) said it is because of the collapse of the cod stocks. Cod eat lobster roe.

Jocelyn, Hubbards beach is close, I don't know the other two. All will be revealed in my next post.

Lovely shots. I've not been to the east coast yet. But I hope to soon. Beaches and lobsters are two of my favourite things.

Frank, you would love the fishing there. Salmon and trout steams in abundance.

How I'd love to be soaking up the sunshine on that beach right now!
